Collagen ReActivate PM
HydroPeptide’s Collagen ReActivate PM is one of the more direct examples of the pairing covered in our guide to peptides vs. retinol: a single formula combining time-release retinol with a group of named peptides, rather than relying on the reader to layer two separate products.
The peptide side of the formula includes Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 and Palmitoyl Dipeptide-5 Diaminobutyroyl Hydroxythreonine, signal peptides from the same general family covered in our guide to palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, alongside a third structural peptide and a copper-based ingredient intended to support the skin’s own collagen-related processes. Retinol is included at a time-release 0.25% concentration, the ingredient most associated with supporting cell turnover and the visible signs of aging.
Combining retinol with a moisturizing base is one common way formulators manage the irritation retinol can cause on its own. As with any retinol-containing product, the brand notes it should not be used during pregnancy or while nursing, while taking prescription acne medication, or alongside waxing, chemical peels, or resurfacing treatments, and recommends daily sunscreen use alongside it.
As with any cosmetic peptide or retinol product, claims here are limited to supporting the appearance of firmer, smoother-looking skin, not treating or reversing any skin condition.
